She Left Me Battered And Bruised

She Left Me Battered And Bruised

A Poem by BodilessSoul

When I was a girl

I trusted her with my world

And I thought that life was good

How oblivious was I, I should

Have known.

And now that I've grown

I've realized all the words you sang to me to make me fall asleep

Were all lovely lies and they cut into me, deep.

Loving gazes became distainful stares

Your mouth forming knives that stab my heart, showing you don't care

I've put up a barrier

Against you, the disease carrier

Your hate, so sickening, I try to keep at bay

But it always finds a way

Into my battered heart

Tearing it to shreds, pulling it apart

Thank you dear

For now I fear

I'll never trust or love again fully

Because you've left me broken, trully.

I have bruises purple and blue

And the credit goes to you.

So take a bow, you deserve an applause

For being my darkness's cause.
