Sentimentality

Sentimentality

A Poem by Shane Mohamed
"

When kindness persists.

"

Sentimentality

Art thou feeling fair today?

They did you justice not when they called you ugly.

Nefertiti was of no comparison to thine beauty.

They said your hair was closest to tenured garments.

I found it smoother than the finest of silks.

When you spoke: it was as if they had heard an a*s groan,

But to me it sounded as if a mockingbird had sung to the heavens.

They heard you stutter,

But all I heard were repetitions of melodious synonyms.

They said you slouched and dragged as you treaded,

But I said she’s wise to calculate the notion of each step.

They said you reek of must.

All I smelt was thyme and basil and the purest of spices.

Can’t they see the sincerity that lies beneath the age?

For as they mock, upon time, you turn an honest page.

This is a society that has little appreciation for the elderly. Sadness!

This is a gem my friend, bravo! Throwing the two perspectives together
is brilliant, two wave lengths to form one poem, love the fusion, very creative!

Haha gotcha. And you're welcome.
A beautiful piece Shane. She sounds beautiful and wise indeed. I like how you weave the two different perspectives of the same image and am reminded of beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nice write!
