For The Love of Reading

For The Love of Reading

A Poem by Sharmila

Into a world of imagination I enter,
Where the words come alive,
Influencing my thoughts,
Crystallizing them into people and houses and beaches.

Page after page I read,
Witnessing the happenings of the book,
I slowly drown in the depth of its characters.
My feelings ruled by the intensity of words,
My mind mirroring the spirit of the story.

Placing my mind in the hands of the author,
I glide through the journey of emotion and intellect.

And when the last page is read,
The end so subtle,
That my poor mind fails to register,
And craves for more.

Thank you!
I love this poem! Especially the end, it reminds me of that bubble you fall into when you read a really good book, and whilst the story has ended, your mind is still there. The line 'placing my mind in the hands of the author' is really interesting, it brings up the debate of the role of the author in the story. Keep writing!
