What You Don't See

What You Don't See

A Poem by Shayne Winchester
"

A short peom that I'm planning to elaborate on eventually. Kind of.. sadish. ^^

"

I hide myself behind a mask of stone

I pretend not to care when they torment me

When they mock me for who I am

They don't know the half of it

Inside me?

I'm not whole

I know it

Inside me, I know that something's missing

They all say I'm not trying

That I'm lazy, careless and useless

Maybe they're right, but they're missing one word

Worthless.

A very interesting and thought provoking poem. It works as it is but do you still plan on extending it? Your words play nicely with one another, you ask insightful questions of yourself or of the narrator, which many will be able to relate too. Well written the only thing you need to work on is trying not to use 'I'.
