Could it be 'god' giving up on humanity or the melding of religous dogma as Jesus takes to the hills and throws his lot in with what I take to be a Buddhist, although the predominant religion is Hindu. I could see the character Jesus taking up Buddism as though he and John Lennon invented it!

lol, some people think he created Christianity the pagan christos myth goes back tens of thousands of years, allegedly in his pre messiah days he did travel to Nepal and Egypt and immersed himself in the local belief systems
