ROAR

ROAR

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror

Oh, Mother hear my Roar, a roar of Thunder

To stop the rain’s devour

my flood of tears deprive color

Bouquets fade like the cinders of a fire

Blossoms I grew with my own hands care

Hands that left my beauty so dear

Beauty she resides with the smallest of Stars

A Sliver of diamond shining in the dark

Under a moon of riots and war

Oh, Mother hear my Roar, a roar of thunder

This Poem was written on Mother's Day. Mother's day reminds me of a time when women were not thought of as equal to Men. A time when abuse of any kind remained secret and women silent. My Mother would ask for my silence in glances and actual words if angry enough. She wasn't ready for me I was born to Roar. The Love that flows through generations of Women is here in my words for my daughter Natalie, mother Marilee, grandmother Gladys and my special great grand ma Cassy God Bless you wherever you are blood of my blood, Mother, hear me Roar. If you are still reading thank you and God Bless

Ellie Qtz, it was an extraordinary roar thank you
Tears of frustration resulting in her roar going unheard or not allowed to be unleased? The tears then killing the flowers she herself grew? I understand squashing a primal howl at the unfairness of it all...am I close? Remember I'm still at neophyte status in reading poetry and this is really deep. And the words flow...not disjointed, they all connect properly for a smooth read.

Its beautifully written, how a womans voice is being deprived from expressing her feel. This is something that is bothering every women even today after all the freedom fights too. The constitution says right to speech but the same constitution fails to make her voice from being heard.

Thank for your words of praise this poem is loaded with emotions I tried to reflect.
A sliver of silver diamond in the rough dark... My eyes were deprived of color upon reading this, but with a roar... Well... I seem to have gotten my hues back, just in time for the thunderous end of a sweetly penned poem...

What a review, you put a smile on my face during a very stressful day I thank you.
true to your theme, there is a subtle power, truth & sadness knitted in your words. pics add nicely. this reminded me of the 1971 Helen Reddy song "I Am Woman" with it's opening line, "I am woman, hear me roar", which i believe is a women's liberation song. this got me thinking about how women are treated in different cultures. in many ways, women are the stronger sex. regardless, respect is always the order of the day, which incidentally is another song by Aretha Franklin. you always do such a nice all around job with your writes. thanks for sharing.
