DEMOCRACY

" rebels raise their fists high into a corrupt sky "

a single bright beam gradually exposes a gathering

people pull into the crowd for the promise of seduction

one illumination is equal to a hundred more knocking at the door

torches held high against a depraved and fallen sky

the chosen usher of events juggles and navigates in the last of the followers

massive venom entices the body and begs a deeper cut

a rhythm turns slow urging the pull of a trigger

a rattlesnake shape warns and rules a frenzied horde

the Serpent jigs in and out of the crowd urging a monster

malice smiles, changing, moving, weaving off dangers shore.

a mob is embarked to a trample mode

invitation to wrath just a deadly sin

a vulnerable place is shaken

to wake fury

the bar is set high

anticipation takes a step forward

Mere words gather a crowd. The irresistible voice engages, begins a momentum, is now the missing piece that completes a calling. The crowd grows in a volatile movement, surrounding as the slithering serpent devours a meal by hypnotic charms.
I am always amazed at the scenes of a riot or civil arrest as an ideal moves through the crowd as if alive.

An interesting politically motivated write....

For me, it is not that Democracy fails or is a failure in itself....it is the corruption and egoism of the elite that manipulate in it's shadow that causes all the problems. The freedom of expression and choice that Democracy provides to the people is far to often held at the mercy of those 'running' the show...politicians and their cronies. Until self interest is put aside, and policy that governs truly for the people makes a long awaited return, Democracy and the foundations of the West will continue to fail....and the people will continue to rise in protest.

A very interesting piece of work. One that is capable of harnessing a broad spectrum of opinions. Nicely done.

Yes, I agree with you the system is not flawed the people who govern are. However, when our forefathers began this Democracy it was formed with the Ideal that no man shall have absolute power. In writing this piece I was more in touch with the mass hysteria I was trying to entertain the hysteria as a serpent moving through the crowd to a snake in the grass. You don't actually see the snake but by the way he moves the grass you know he is there. The way a crowd is contagious to the anger, hate and disgust they didn't feel moments before. Thank you for taking the time and leaving such a stellar review.

I'll give you another probably after this review. First, that is pretty, the picture, chronologically, too, because I wrote an imperfect poem called, Rip and Flare. Second, I did not know people would be able to see that I edited a poem...
