Nasty Cupid

Nasty Cupid

A Poem by L.G. Knight

Cupid you're a spiteful one,

Tell me what'd I ever do?

To make you dislike me so,

And send me love untrue.

Why can I never make it,

Onto your good side?

And have you deem to send me,

A love to last a lifetime.

Cupid you're a mean one,

I just can not see,

Why you send me nightmares,

Instead of a sweet dream.

I have always trusted,

In loves true tender embrace.

So why is it I end up,

With Love's bitter disgrace?

Cupid you're a hateful one,

To treat me as you do.

I'd like to steal your bow,

And Turn it back on you.

The evil cupid concept isn't a totally new one. I even have one, where I believe I relate him to the best friend of Satan. Anyways, that taken into consideration, I can't say this is that original of a piece. It is well written nonetheless. And I am not sure if it is intended, but a few lines almost remind me of the Grinch. I found it funny.
The last couplet I liked the best though. The idea of dealing Cupid a dose of his own medicine is well put and a great way to finish off this attack on the fiendish little guy.
Keep it up. You've got some great stuff here, and I'd love to see even more topped on.
