Nature Needs Me Not

Nature Needs Me Not

A Poem by Jason Grey
"

Hello. I am God.

"

I walk through the forest of trees I did not plant,
And flowers
I did not seed.

They grow nonetheless.

There is the grass
I do not cut,
And the sapling
I do not tend.

In spite of me, they live.

The river flows
Though a path I did not carve,
And moss grows
On stones I did not place,

They exist without me.

The sun rises
Without my word,
And grass grows
Without my touch.

I am not necessary.

No shovels,
No mulch,
No sod,

In this hallowed place,
That needs no god.

This is a really nice poem. It is understated and controlled, and very astute in getting its point across without preaching it. I really liked it and I thought it had a good flow and good progression.
