Lies

Lies

A Poem by Shelby Baker

will watch those lies slid off your  tongue like turpentine but don't think you're getting away with them

I might just be remembering them and waiting for the day to drop the bomb

This is cool. I love the imagery of "the day to drop the bomb" !! Umph! It's the equivalent of the onomatopoeic BANG!

Wow, is all I feel I can say.
The power that eminates from this is amazing. It's beautiful with a darkened bittersweetness. Very, very nice.

something small, but powerful, i like it. For everyone that has hurt me with their lies

Turpentine doesn't slip off the tongue. Not unless you are really suicidal or weird.
What other nouns are slippery?
How about:

"...will watch those lies slip off your tongue
like the jello shooters you use
to kiss the navels and curves
of the strippers
you visit
when
you claim
to be watching
football with your friends"
