This is a previous version of Chapter 5-2.
“What's Grandma doing at our house and what business are you referring too?” Peggy asked on a side of caution.
“Humm let's see. That's quite a question now for such a little girl like you to ask. Your Mother and Father; No! Humm, let me see if I can, yes...Peggy; How would like to stay with me for awhile?” Lizy asked.
“Why would I want to do that?” Peggy asked.
“Humm so, I could get know you better, I never get see you girls. It would be just for a little while,” she said.
“What about Mama and Daddy?” she asked.
“Humm, they needed some alone time together to sort something's out, like a vacation just the two of them, a little time off as it were,” she replied with caution.
“This is because of EJ isn't it, he’s been bad again? I knew it.” Peggy said feeling trapped and angered about losing the control she had.
“Peggy that's not it at all… EJ's, going somewhere too dear so, you see in away you are all getting a vacation. Think of it as a vacation, the only difference is. I get to take care of you and Mary here will be taking care of Dona. We all live close enough that you will see each other once in awhile and your parents can come see you whenever they want to. Now then what kind of Ice Cream do you want?” She said as she looked over at all Ice Cream.
“I am not sure I like this idea Aunt Lizy, but that Ice Cream sure looks good.”
“Aunt Mary?” Danny asked.
“Yes Danny.”
“Where I am going stay if Peggy is staying with Aunt Lizy and Dona is staying with you and EJ. I don't know where he is staying so where am I staying?” he asked. Dona, Peggy looked up at there aunts as something caught her attention. “Well guys your Grandma has a surprise for all of you for that answer. I can tell you this Danny,” she said as she turned to Lizy for help.
“What do think Lizy should I tell them?” she asked.
Danny and his sisters are at the edge of their seats. “I don't know? Their Grandma would kill me,” she said as she took anther bite of her Ice Cream.
“Tell us, tell us, Aunt Mary,” they begged.
“Alright,” she said. Aunt Mary looked carefully around room, then over her shoulder, bent down close to the table and whispered.“Your brother EJ is staying with another family here in town, now he is hurt really bad so he staying with them for the time being, but...”
She takes deep breath, “that's not all,” she looked around room making sure the cost is clear. “Your little brother Danny here is on his way to visit him for a few days, then he going to live with his Grandma.”Then proud as peacock she slid back into her chair with the biggest grin on her face. Watching the children eyes pop right out their little heads.
Danny, bouncing around on his seat with excitement, he could barely control himself. “REALLY!” I get go see EJ” and goes over gives his aunt Mary a big hug. Peggy and Dona not sure how to feel at the moment of this new discovery of finding out they are being broken up or that EJ was still alive and well. Just stared at each other pondering what was going to happen next. At least they won't be fighting with each other that's one good thing at least or is it. Of course they didn't have to wait long, hearing the roar of the motorcycle. “Look Aunt Lizy!” Peggy said.
“Oh my! It’s the wind herself,” replied Lizy.
“What do mean Aunt Lizy?” Dona asked.
Danny turned around, “that's Grandma silly.”
“What in tar notation?” Mr. Jones said as he watched from the window ran to the door.
“Well hello to you to Mr. Jones.” Grandma replied back.
“Well they said you would be swinging by, but Betty Stuart I never in my wildest?”
“Oh. I see my grandchildren are here. Enjoying your Ice Cream my dear sweet children, I hope it didn't spoil your appetites too much before dinner, but your Grandma had some errands to run. Now then come give me a big hug and a kiss and update me on what you been up to… Well now I have some news of my own,” she said.
“Grandma!” Danny asked.
“Yes Danny?”
“When do I get to see EJ?” Danny asked excitedly.
“Oh, I see somebody has already let my little secret out,” as she looked at Mary and Lizy looking little ashamed.
“It was just too juicy and they were asking, we had to think of something,” Lizy said.
“It’s alright really.” Grandma said fixing her hair, watched the children excited faces.
Grandma looked down at Danny; “real soon Danny. Finishes your Ice Cream then will go. So what did you tell them anyway?”
“Lizy and I sort of filled things in for them, told them they were all going on a vacation except this is for everyone, a private vacation for each of them,” Mary replied.
“Oh I see… Humm.” She said looking over at her grandchildren. “Actually that's not such a bad idea, yes it could work.”
“Betty!” Mary said with caution.
“A separate vacation… Okay, that's what we are going to use. They won't know the difference. They’re too young. So make if fun for them and keep their minds busy, while their parents work things out. Now EJ, poor boy! I only hope the Downing’s can help him there, because we have our hands full here!” Especially you Lizy that Peggy, she takes after her mother, watcher her closely, she's got the devil in her. That's why I wanted to separate the kids and bring some peace between them. Hopefully straighten her out if possible with some motherly love and kindness.” She said taking a good look at her grandchildren.
“Now you can go back to the house get their things if you like, but don't be too surprised what you find or won't find. In fact I am pretty sure that these boys don't have much as for as clothing goes. I haven't seen what she put in the pillowcase yet. I shutter to think. So I'll leave that up to you. Just have the girls see Doc Hatfield at his office before you leave and I'll call you in a day or two. I need to get back to the farm. I've been gone to long already,” she said calling Danny over. “Danny?”
“Yes Grandma.”
“Are you ready too go?” she asked.
“REALY!” he replied bouncing up and down with excitement.
“Tell your sisters goodbye and stand over here like a good boy,” she said.
“Goodbye Peggy,” he said.
Peggy just waved not wanting say it out loud, but whispered behind her teeth so her Grandma couldn’t hear her say it, “good reddens you little brat,” but does a fake smile and faked a wave goodbye.
Dona a little more open says. “Goodbye Danny, try not to cause any trouble.”
“Now girls give me one more hug and kiss from each of you before I go; now that's better.” She said as she stands in front of them and lifts their heads up with their chins, looked squarely in their eye one at time so they know she means business. “I want you to do three things. One: mind your aunts… Second: have lots of fun… Three: be nice to each other always and all three of these girls is not option, got it.” She said then waited for them to reply.
“Yes Grandma.”
“Now then go on your little vacation.”With that she and Danny walked out the door.
“Well Danny, are you ready to have some fun,” she asked as he looked at bike.
“Do I really get to ride in that?” Danny asked excitedly.
“What else my dear boy, I didn't bring the car, now did I?” she said.
“No Grandma, why didn't you bring the car?” he asked.
“It had a flat dear boy, plus I am the wind you know.”She said as she pulled out a small leather jacket just little Danny size and Danny's eyes grew rounder then Easter Eggs.
“Grandma!” he turned and puts it on.
While his sisters and aunts inside gasp with their hands to their mouths “Oh My!”
“Oh my Lizy! Look what she is doing!” She said.
Then Grandma helped him with his little gloves and placed the helmet on his head. Picked up Danny up off the ground, placed him in the little car next to her and pulled out a little white scarf and place it around his neck. Stands up on the bike then with a loud roar brings the old Harley Davidson to life, squeals the tires pops a quick wheelie and she was off down the street.|
Peggy, Dona raced out of store turned to their aunts with the biggest surprised look on their faces. Turn and face their aunts....“Aunt Mary, aunt Lizy is Grandma insane?” they asked.
They stood there and laughed. “No dear. Your Grandma she is just the wind and she just needed to blow and man can she blow,” Lizy replied.
“Aunt Mary?” Dona asked.
“Yes Dona.”
“How can we go on a vacation if we don't have any clothes or suitcases to put any in it?”
“Lizy, she does have a point?” Mary said.
“Let’s go back inside finish our Ice Cream, while I think on that one.” As they were eating there Ice Cream Lizy noticed some luggage in far corner. “Mary watches the girls for a moment; I have an idea,” then pointed too the luggage in the corner. Lizy got up from the table went over to the counter and sat at the stool. “Mr. Jones?” she asked.
“Yes, what else can I get you fine ladies today?” he replied.
“Well we were wondering about that luggage over there in the corner,” as Lizy pointed to it in the corner.”
“Luggage. Oh that luggage, yes what about that luggage?” he asked.
“We were wondering if it was for sale.” Lizy asked.
“For sale?”
“For sale, yes” she replied.
“It was for a display once for a raffle if I recall. I was just getting ready to put back into storage,” he said.
“Would you be willing to sell it to me? You see I need it for my nesses, there getting ready to go on vacation and they don't have anything put their clothes in and we are kind of in desperate need of some and I would really would appreciate it.”Lizy said turning on her womanly charms.
Mr. Jones looked at the girls and rubbed his chin, “oh shucks, you know me. I could never refuse a pretty face. Besides, they would be sitting there, take up space anyhow and they might as well get some use out of them. Tell you what, for a kiss on the cheek and hug from the little ones. It will only cost you 10.00 dollars how’s that sounds for the lot them. Just don't tell me wife or she'll skin me a live,” he said.
“Mr. Jones you got yourself a deal.” Lizy said as she leaned over the counter and gave him big o fats kiss right on the cheek and handed him a ten-dollar bill. Then goes over to the luggage starts picking it up and hands each one to the girls.
“Lizy?” Mary asked.
“Yes Mary.”
“You were always were a smooth talker when comes to men,” as she giggles.
“I learned it all from their grandmother,” she said as she looked at Peggy and Dona.
“Well ladies we have the suitcases now we just need to fill them.Tell us what we need to put in them so we can start our vacation.” The girls stopped by the house, figured it was best. That way they could at least see their parents off, plus the Doc and the officer haven't left yet so they would be fine.
They knocked on the door to be polite because they didn't want to barge in. Mary went in first to give a break down on the details so not to upset the girls when they came in. Girls come into the house seeing their parents and ran up to them. “Mama, Mama! Were going on a vacation all of us can you believe it?” Peggy said.
“Yes Peggy, I heard,” she said trying to hold back the tears.
“I am going to stay with aunt Lizy while you and Daddy have some fun too, doesn’t that sound wonderful?” Peggy said.
Her mother trying really hard not too causes a scene. “Yes dear, that's sounds great,” she said with a tear in her eye.
“You can come see us whenever you want too. That is if you are not to busy that is.”
“Oh we will dear, we will,” She said as she wiped an escaped tear.
“Peggy give your mother and father a hug then let’s go pick out some clothes for you to take dear,” Lizy said.
“Yes aunt Lizy.”
Lizy turned to her mother, “I promise to take real good care of her.” Not waiting for a response walked down hall with Peggy to choose out her clothes. Then after filling the suitcase walked Peggy out to the car. Mary does the same thing and then tells Doc Hatfield that they will be at his office in a few minutes.
“Well girls we just have to make one more stop before we can start our vacation. Did you know that is required that before you go on any trip you have be checked out by a Doctor?”Watching them shake their heads, “that's right even us. Your parents were being checked out to before they can go.In fact they had the Doctor come right to the house so they could leave on their vacation from there. EJ and Danny are being checked out as well so now it’s our turn.” Lizy said trying to sound convincing. “Hello Doc I brought the girls by as their grandmother requested.”

that Ice Cream sure looks good - that ice cream sure looks good. Other that the chapter is never perfect. Grandma is still boss. I still don't like Peggy. I am happy that the parents are being investigated. I am still wondering what all of this have to do with death and the old man.
Nice to have a lighter chapter. I loved the visual of Danny becoming a mini grandma.
Only one thing that stand out to me.
‘She takes deep breath, “that's not all,” she looked around room making sure the co(a)st is clear.’
I do not like Aunt Lizzy. She seems like a c**t. >.< Or maybe its just me. It continues further and I love how simple this story is. There's something about that captures my attention but no time to linger! I go on!
