Devil's Muse

Devil's Muse

A Poem by Shihmai Crestwood
"

A young woman can't help falling in love with a man who doesn't want her.

"

Devil’s Muse

I hate the way he makes me feel when he looks at me

Drawing me in and clouding my mind to where I can’t see

The piercing gray of his iris’ watching my unshapely form

Knowing if I give in I’m doing more harm

Each day I fall victim to the beautiful tint of the devil’s stare

Wrapping myself in lust, giving him my all, making myself bare

Throwing away my dignity and my morals just to get a taste

I run to his side without him having to give chase

Why can’t I stop when I know I’m no more than used goods

Giving him satisfaction as he regales me with falsehoods

I sit and watch just as lonely as before

Watch him walk away and shut the door

He hungers for the pleasure but detests the vessel

But each time I return, I look into his eyes and settle

Each time he promises will be different

And each time I believe him brushing off my ignorance

I hate who I am and who I’ve become

I’ve surrendered to the devil and he has me under his thumb.
