A Day's Passing

A Day's Passing

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

We were
all that could be
the nebulae
embraced
by the full moon
at night-
the Light
induced by the Sun
at day-
then you went away.

My heart sang
a song of reverence,
of solitude,
of loss
for that which had
become common
our embrace,
our kisses,
our passion
yet apart
I can not say that
I do not long for you
more than when you are
with me
as the lonesomeness
sets in
as quickly as a day's
passing.

Yes, this is very lovely and the words chosen with care. You worked very well within this theme and such a short space to make this a very rich and bittersweet offering. Maybe 'were together' rather than are together, since he is left.

nice work.

oh, wow, I felt the height of it. Taller than the smiling moon, I think.

Beautifully passionate. This captures the same existentialism lovers can feel beneath a summer moon and stars - them being part of that great nebula. Too bad day had to come. Curse the sunlight.

I like the idea...the cosmic love thing. I think it would be more astonomically correct though to have the nebulae embracing the full moon instead of vice versa. Nebulae are groups of stars, planets orbit stars and moons orbit planets, so technically...lol It was beautiful, never mind me.
