It's Time

It's Time

A Poem by Alicia™
"

It's time for my heart to beat on its own

"
It’s time to forget you;
For my heart not to beat
In the rhythm of your name.

It’s time for my heart
To beat on its own

And not in sync with yours.

I enjoyed this. I think almost that the first stanza could stand alone and be perfect. It is where the strength in this poem lies and the second stanza sounds much the same but weaker and with less conviction... unless of course you did that on purpose, perhaps your resolve was meant to lessen at the end. Either way, good write.

This poem is extremely short. I liked what was there and it spoke to me. I felt clear emotion and could definitely relate to it. I do think that it can have a bigger and better impact if the poem was expanded, even if just 4 lines. I think it needs to tell more of a story, give you more of an explanation, or just make you empathize more. Good write, nonetheless. Keep writing!
