Glass Rainbow

Glass Rainbow

A Poem by Silmara McGarry

Indescribably

I see you there luring me,

with your strikingly brilliant colours,

murmuring that I am the glow in your eyes,

when you look at me.

I can strongly feel your heart

beating in mine,

equal to an impressive swan dance ~

dazzlingly staged.

Tell me,

how can I cross those mountains

to kiss your eyelids,

to feel your woodsy scent

perfuming our love once again?

Wait a minute!

Did you just kiss me?

For, my heart pounds,

and I am out of breath!

No, I am fooling myself;

it was just a note you wrote,

sending a kiss,

while fiercely asking,

"Why can’t I be with you,

when I love you so much?"

Again and again…

I have been enchanted,

frequently reflective of when

will I be in your arms ~ afresh.

In droops,

madness and anger are jointly

taking over my mind,

since they have not  permitted

you to be with me.

While your heart howls

with pain and loneliness,

I remain myself,

but changed…

desolated without you.

Sadly,

I realize now,

you are still there…

beyond the glass rainbow.

Wow,, I saw someone had reviewed this on the feed and thought I would pop in and check it out and I am so glad I did. This is amazing. I could feel this deeply as I have faced something similar in my past. This poem instantly brought me back to a time when all that mattered was finding a way to be in that person' arms. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Words to learn and live by and with - given the chance, Silmara. Your longing is so obvious, sincere and touching - in every sense of the word. A poem to cherish, thank you, thank you, thank you! .

Hello!
Thank you so much for reading and your great review🤍
Wow- this poem is amazing but the last several stanzas are just breathtaking. This poem feels so old school and classic, romance and undying love, then the end sweeps you away with beautiful visuals and heartache. I felt truly for the person/people. It’s hard for me to find some stories emotional, but you just hit the nail on the head on this one. ‘Why can’t I be with you, if I love you so much?’ That’s bound to bring a tear to anyone’s eye. Such a true, but sad line. Everyone who’s had someone separated from them has thought this. It’s simple, but gut wrenching. Thank you for sharing. (:

I am the one to thank you for reading and your kind review dear Alex. :-))
What a tender sadness.. how soft but sad your phrasing, Silmara. To be so far from someone you love is.. to be a heart without a place to rest. Your wording is superb and touching. it;s real, sincere and more. You gaze at that glass rainbow and search for the colour you know is there but... sigh.

A beautiful picture..

Many thanks indeed for reading and your sweet words. :-))
The love and longing in this are powerful. The artwork is stunning! "Beyond the glass rainbow"....I love that line. Seems that someone you love is in the armed forces. That is never an easy situation. Your words are honest and filled with romance. Lydi**

How I am reminded that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Shortly after I first met my husband we were separated by time and distance. Most of our contact was by letter or phone. I recall when reading your lines loves heartache. I felt the emotional roller coaster here dear Silmara. You took me there and I commiserated with you. It's not a comfortable place to be. Poetry well expressed.
