Worlds Apart

Worlds Apart

A Poem by Katelyn
"

Depression

"

Depression

Like a black burning candle

Drips into bitter salt water

A world of sadness

No escape

From yourself

A pain

A burden

No one can comprehend

Search the world for a meaning

Give me something to believe in

Last breaths escape

The eyes of innocence

Forever lost their spark

In the heart of hopelessness

Is all that's left (of me)

The end of the world

Depression

A very good description of depression. Depression can sneak in and take over. Hard to get rid of. I like the emotion and the strong description in the poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.

i think that part of your poem is the heart of it...
its like a combination of being lost and having hope..
nice work...
but are you talking of depression as a whole or just a part of being depress?

Stylistically, I hate the last line and how it reads just because it reminds me of someone dressed in black at open mic night who takes themselves far too seriously that what they feel is the best. Now, as a positive, this is actually a really great poem for describing depression - the minimalistic quality of the writing really helps hammer home the feeling. I wouldn't change much on this at all if I were you - this stands alone quite well.
