Sky of Clay

Sky of Clay

A Poem by Silver Silence
"

senior year of high school

"
if only the sky
was made of clay
and when it rained
it dripped down
and melded us together
we then could withstand
all kinds of weather
but the sky's
not made of clay

if only I felt
this way
to gaze in your eyes
and see a light
that could shine
like a pure concentration
of loveliness
but I don't feel
that way

chorus 1:
and this is how the story ends
even though
it never really began
and this how the story bends
to fit into the lives
we're going to plan

if only the wind
carried a magnetic force
so when it blew
it would push us
closer to each other
as just a natural
phenomenon
but the wind
is without magnetism

if only laughter
was enough
that the good times
of the time we killed
could resonate on
forever
without delay
but laughter
has to insinuate more

chorus 2:
and this is how a story ends
even though
it never really began
and this is how a story bends
to fit into the lives
we're trying to plan

chorus 3:
and this is how a story ends
even though
it never really began
and this is how a story bends
to fit into the lives
we have to plan
