Based on a true story, finding the courage to become a survivor and not a victim

Awoken by the sound of footsteps, I close my eyes and hold them tightly shut, I pull the duvet up close resting below my neck. I listen to those footsteps as they thud up the stairs and stop outside my bedroom door. I try not to move and make it look like I'm sleeping hoping he will go away. I can hear him breathing, smell his foul drunken oudour while he sits on my bed, he pulls back the covers and lay his hand high upon my thigh he whispers 'your enjoying this' I don't say a word, I don't cry, I just let it happen

God what is wrong with me.

You see the little girl inside is screaming, crying desperate for this all to go away, the inner warrior is fighting so hard inside. His words echo through my mind.....

I was repeatedly raped by my dad as a toddler to pre-teen age, so I can attest to how hard it is to write this much, reliving vivid details. I so remember that total "hallway awareness" every evening, wondering where the bed squeaks would be coming from next, each little sound making me paralyzed with dread. I would love to see the last line expanded a little bit . . . you're getting close to the turmoil going on in the mind, but it could be more realistic if this fear/confusion/paralysis goes on for longer . . . SHOW instead of tell how minutes feel like hours . . . just some ideas to keep in mind as you tell your story, which is well told with strong details already! It's not clear if this is your story & I hope it is not (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Your title what caught my eyes " finding the courage to become a survivor and not a victim" because that is the key my dear, when You stop wanting to be a victim, it all begin to change, as I read Your prelude here, I pray with all my heart that You are finding that courage, I pray with all of it...
