A Red Rose for My Love

A Red Rose for My Love

A Poem by Janice

A Red Rose for My Love

A woman was once delivered a single red rose

From whom it was sent from she never knows

She cherished and treasured it with all her lonely heart

A secret admirer perhaps, a new relationship about to start?

She proudly carried her beautiful red rose wherever she went

Hoping to run into whomever it was sent

But the red rose began to turn brittle and black

And started to loose its delicate pedals along her tracks

She had become so sad, as it seemed its sender she would never meet

Until one day a stranger found her lifeless body on a darkened street

Apparently she met him, as he had finally revealed to her his face

With a knife to her throat, and in her mouth the dead rose was then lovingly placed
