The Socratic Doomer

The Socratic Doomer

A Poem by sinNsincerity

I never thought that you would

wander right back into my life.

Sure did wish it.

I prayed on it.

I slaved in it.

My Mrs. Demon.

I never thought that you would

come back into my light to pull

me out of the dark.

Sure did wish it

I prayed on it.

I slaved in it.

What did you do?

Yes you.

Look at what you do.

Look at how you're treating me.

I don't believe in me.

You are my doom.

A soft spoken guillotine that let loose of

the noose and then re-commenced the

beheading of my heavy heaven heart.

Hell.

At one point,

sure did wish for this.

I prayed for this.

I slaved for this.

But now,

what have we done?

But I still love you hon,

and you know this.

such a painful tragedy to be stuck in ... cycling as a slave chained to the grinding wheel ... by self ... over and over the bits of heart shards ... ouch! very graphic read for me ..i feel this one ..tho just a "fond" memory now ... at the time pretty intense ;))

It seems like sometimes the things we wish for and work hard for aren't the things that are right for us. Such a powerful depiction of pain in this poem!

The line "I don't believe in me." is the key to this poem. The phenomenon of people who knowingly get involved with people whom they know are not good for them is a familiar one. It's as though bad attention is better than no attention at all. Sadly, much abuse is the result of this mindset. I hope this one is not autobiographical.

Phenomenal
So many times I've wanted the very thing that was killing me and sucking me dry to come back, it's like a romance with a vampire. So appealing yet so draining... "A soft spoken guillotine that let loose of the noose and then re-commenced the beheading of my heavy heaven heart." I feel the pain in oh so many memories. Thanks for sharing! Great work!

I love the juxtaposition of wanting this, yet it is destructive.

Don't we all follow the path of more pain when we know better. It's human nature

lovely poem, like the flow

Indeed, at least for myself.
I'm glad that you had enjoyed it Jesse.
chained to the idea of love, the hopes and dreams of it's once gleaming potential, blinded to it's reality as a never ending cycle of hurt. Deep thoughts provoked. Nice one.

Very well put. It was felt rather than merely read. My favorites lines had to be "A soft spoken guillotine that let loose of the noose and then re-commenced the beheading of my heavy heaven heart". Beautifully expressed :)

Thank you Eva, I'm glad you enjoyed that line.
When a prayers are heard and wishes granted. We hoped but for a dream, and received but a nightmare. Nicely done.

Beautiful. I also love the repetition.
