A Poem by Merle Van Dee

We run and run to meet what end?
A darkness and a  light
Loom before us all.
Yet we pay no attention,
Chance or Divine Prophecy?
We assume a void or the safety of land.
Conquered the sea of life,
Now peace on uncharted Shores.
Heaven above and Hell below
Vices and verses
Chase my uneasy heart.
My spirit's worn and soul already old,
Though the miles crossed are few.
These are the thoughts of a sinner's heart
Against the setting sun.
The twinkle of midnight,
The beginning of the end.
The questions are silent
Answers, please begin.

Though the miles crossed are few-
love that line.
I really like this piece.
