Grasping at Dreams

Grasping at Dreams

A Poem by Sharon Kim
"

This poem is about those first waking moments when I struggle to remember what I was dreaming about.

Grasping at Dreams

Half formed thoughts that never gel.

Remnants of a dream, that upon waking

hovers like a hummingbird in my mind

then flutters its wings and is gone

before I can capture it.

Elusive, always out of reach,

I chase it through the hallways of my mind

Glimpsing small pieces of the dream

Never enough for the whole idea.

My eyes open.

The chase is over and I have lost again.

Nicely done. I like the image of the half remembered dreams as a hummingbird. The chase imagery fits perfectly with the title. Nice line breaks and good word choices.
