Passing Through

Passing Through

A Poem by Sleep Practice

a blend of chaos and peace
waking up in the morning
and falling back asleep
being able to scratch an itch
but not being able to stretch
the arrival after a long flight
warm water on the back of your neck
while the cold air makes you shiver
your feet coming to rest on a soft
dry
towel
feeling the sun
and watching the moon
growing
and sitting alone in your room
half asleep
watching the day
and opening a window
and stepping through
coming to rest on soft
wet
grass
