The interview

The interview

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

Love interviewed me
for a job
Said I was overqualified
and with a heart
burdened with basics.

So I'm slimming down
my love-hungry heart
hoping that next time
I'll sign on the dotted line

....of love.

Interesting little number. Often we are ill prepared for love if we are emotional types as there seems to be a need to be able to distance oneself from the downs while enjoying the ups of any relationship.

Trying to find the right words to relay my intense admiration of your work. High five - curtsy now to you. Love love what you do with words..

Thank you. It’s not really what I do with words- it’s what they do to me.

absolutely how I feel, Sleepless...I feel I am simply a conduit...not really the creator of the poem.. read more
love it Sleepless! totally relatable and a fine creative allegory ... we should all be required to take at least the basics and make it through the interview ...before we launch ... i think it would save a lot of shared misery in the world ... the simplicity in this is refreshing and makes the depth more sharply defined .. enjoyed reading ... well done says i!

ps. I am going to finish our sonnet me self unless you get moving on it sir!!! ;))

Sweet, cute, and catchy! ; )
I can certainly see how too many basics would interfere with the free flow of a professional lover, alright.
Can't be too stiff (well, er!) in the hungry pursuit of love's many rewarding demands.
Smooth write, good form, imagination, and imagery.

The pay should always be considered, too. Wink*
Thanks for the knowing smile, My friend … fun stuff! ⁓ Richard 🍃
