Chapter 1 of Thicker Than Water

Blue.  Emily's favorite colour. Ever since she was born she had loved the very mention of the word. Blue. For years she had inclined to be a professional swimmer . Before her Mother died when she was six, she had encouraged Emily to follow her dreams, no matter what. Together they had danced upon the beach and pranced in the water. The beach, Emily had always remembered , that was the place where her mother had given her an aqua blue topaz stone, attatched to a black rope string hung around her neck. Ever since , that necklace stayed around Emily's neck ; It was her very inspiration to swim.
