Imaginary Friend

Imaginary Friend

A Poem by Andromeda
"

umm? random?

"

I remember

When we

Played Pick-Up-Sticks

On the patio of my

Life-sized

Doll house.

I remember

When we

Fought Cowboys-And-Indians

Across the plains of my

Backyard wilderness.

I remember

When we

Found the

Bird’s Nest and

Brought it to

Show-And-Tell

In a plastic bag.

I remember

When I began to

Grow older and

You

Began to fade.

I remember

When they explained to me

That you weren’t real

And

The last bits of

You

Were swept up

By the maid.

This is simply fabulous, I loved the entirety. I do think that you might completely dispense with the second life-sized so that it reads simply,"across the plains of my backyard wilderness" I think it would strengthen the structure and eliminate the repetition as well. Just my thoughts.

the use of 'life-sized' twice is distracting, otherwise a very nice write. this felt quirky and bounding, and was awash with fresh images. i enjoyed this piece.

Awww. The end is sad. I love imaginary friends.
