Writing on Paper

Writing on Paper

A Poem by -Scribe in Style-

Writing on a paper

Pen on paper -
Or a pencil if you like.
A plain piece, or;
Be it squared or lined.

Language is your medium:
Written or unwritten;
Formal or informal;
Known or unknown.
To communicate:
A message or a thought,
A simple letter or a note,
For us to remember.

From left to right,
Or right to left,
Whatever your medium -
It'll be a premium!
No more writer's block!
You have so much in stock!
Use the alphabet,
Or a mixture of
Numbers and letters,
With vowels and consonants -
Draw a scribble scrabble.

On the paper
For purpose altogether:
To explain a conceptual idea;
To describe a pictorial image;
To entertain passing leisure;
To perform on a stage theater;
To persuade pity people;
To instruct a careful reader;
With the audience set in mind.
To target a willful spender,
Pay for a written culture.

On the paper,
when you write
Sentences can be simple;
Compound a comparison,
Complex a competition
Of close contrasts or
Of corrupt conflicts;
There are connectives
For a variety in construction.

When ink meets paper,
Or the pencil graphite lead,
Be it the wax in colour crayons:
Write to relieve your stress,
Splurge out that emotion
Write to build up climax
That, of what is in the heart.
Figures of speech
Bring connotations,
Celebrate in exaggerations.
Convert things to
Personifications,
For comprehensive interactions.
And include a vocabulary
Like no other dictionary,
To perceive a wordle
Of language theory.

On the paper
Piece it together.
Be it in the form of
A scripture;
Be it in the structure of
A poetic verse;
Be it in the sentences of
An ongoing prose.
The word put down on paper
Stays written there forever.
It's used as proof
And has a memorial nature.

Pick up that writing tool,
Pick one from the writing pool:
The ink will flow,
Cartridges one then two;
The ball will play,
Smooth across the page;
Pencil leads will break,
Pieces of wood and shavings;
Change the nib,
Sharpen the tip,
Curb and curve your style.
On the page
Where you've written,
Join the dot, line and point
Let them meet!
Add the marks of punctuation.
Capitals have a height,
Keep the lowercase in sight.
Exclaim and question
All you want.
You can't hear the reply:
Let the reader analyze!
The grammar can be forsaken,
You're not making a notion.
Share your diction
Until in becomes an addiction.

Fill up the lines
Fill up the pages
Make a booklet
Let them bind.
We'll build many shelves,
And make history;
Put it together in a library -
Imprint minds and hearts:
Black and white
Or spectrum light.

Using the feather tech,
With focus don't forget:
Snap click and chat,
Splash out of track,
On to spreads of sheets
Before you retreat.
Date it and sign it!
Mark it with a post it.
Make your mark
In the dark.
You're a writer!
You have the right!
It's time to make writing right!

Author's Note

-Scribe in Style-
I wrote one just like this about art (you can find it in my gallery) and I recently gave it to one of my friends to read which is how I became inspired to write this one.

I think it's a good piece about writers writing.
You've illustrated the process and visuals pretty well, but I sort of think your work needs a little editing and trimming. Like, grouping your lines into stanzas to make it less hard to read continuously. And maybe a little fix on the use of the commas, semicolons, colons and periods. Just to make it easier to read, in my opinion. ^^
Overall, though, like I said before, it's a nice piece that can definitely relate to writers! :)

Arwa, You decided to write about the art of writing, but took a seemingly simplistic characterization (pen to paper) and looked at it through an irregular prism; this unearthed an astounding number of layers (and hiding places) through which the act of writing can pass. When I first realized what your message was, then looked at the length of the piece, I thought that it would get tedious or repetitive. I was wrong. I have a short attention span due to disorders, but your buoyant style kept me transfixed and on point throughout. This is a very accomplished write, VERY well done! take care...dan
