A Ribbon

Poem.

Vigor, is much like a scarlet ribbon

tied, to the claws of a dragon.

 

It thrashes against the wind, the

dragon’s enormous strength.

 

Youth, eternal, much like a red ribbon

tied between the hearts of lovers.

 

It strains against the pull, the

unyielding distance in between.

 

Life, a byzantine child, earns your trust,

failing you at your final moments.

 

Much like a cherry ribbon, that loses

none of its scent, despite the years.

 

We, are much like a handful of ribbons.

 

Strings that last forever, but get lost

as they slip through our fingers

and into the breeze.
