Said the Hatter to the Hare

Said the Hatter to the Hare

A Poem by Eryn ♪

Said the hare to the hatter,
"There's a million stars I see.",
Said the hatter to the hare,
"They are all so dim to me,
My wisdom out matches,
All their dull idiocy."

Said the hare to the hatter,
"What of these silver bells?"
Said the hatter to the hare,
"I do quite love the smell,
But I cannot hear them sing,
So there is no story to tell."

Said the hare to the hatter,
"What of the ocean deep?"
Said the hatter to the hare
"It's where all dark secrets sleep,
But none of mine lie beneath,
For I have none to keep."

Said the hare to the hatter,
"Pour me half a cup of tea?"
Said the hatter to the hare
"What is such absurdity?
To cut tea in half,
It makes no sense to me."

Said the hare to the hatter,
"Come along my friend.
Well have ourselves a party,
And talk until the end,
Of other such absurdities,
We'll go on and on and then..."

But here the hatter stopped him,
And this is what he said,
"I would so much love to,
My wise and peculiar friend."

You are a amazing storyteller.

Said the hatter to the hare

The above lines was my favorite. I enjoyed the poem. You left the reader with something to think about. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Cool conceit. There is this sensory, worldly zeal that the hatter keeps trying to rebuff, but then in the end he embraces discourse itself, which kind of turns the parable on its head.

You... are... AMAZING! It's a really great poem. Some people choose subjects that are nothing close to what you were doing. Keep up the freshness.

Absolutely Amazing! I loved the sing song verse and the use of characters that most everyone knows. It gives us a lyrical ride in a whimsical and fun way. Your rhyme is fantastic and really goes a long way in making this piece a really smooth piece of poetry to read. The fact that is airs on the side of nonsensical is the best. Can't help but read this with a smile and go away feeling satisfied.

Great Ink! Two thumbs Up!

Thank you very much!
Quite an interesting dialogue passed between such fabled friends/foes dependent on which version of the epic tale you've read. Admittedly, I had to read this twice, due to the shifts between Hatter and Hare, however, regardless of breaks, the scheme fit nicely the second time around, and I only found a few minor errors.

One struck with delirium and the other (hence the unspoken name 'mad') still idealize in today's modern script, Carroll would be pleased. Thanks for the read.

Thank you very much for your compliment, and for the edits. I never get many, so thank you.
This is totally AMAZING!!! It's meter and rhyme are completely perfect and tell a very poignant story. Everything fits together soooo well and that ending...just...I almost kinda teared up because to be honest you remind me a lot of the hatter and it just seemed very you.

ps-I laugh at the tea thing because you don't drink 'boiled water with leaves in it' but I still very much love this poem :D
