Agony Within

Agony Within

A Poem by Scarlet Letter
"

I just express what I feel....

"

In the deepest pit of despair
Is where I seek refuge.
In the putrid sewers of pain
Is where I rest in agony.
My hands, my feet,
Weighed down by tarnished chains,
My wings encumbered by tears.
I lay, soaked in anguish
In this gutter of hopelessness and misery.
My heart, what is left,
Aches unrelentingly.
My soul cries out pitifully
From this unfeeling blackness.
Nothingness surrounds me,
My only company are the
Echoes of moans that resonate
Off these never ending walls of hurt.
I am swallowed by the disease
That I created,
Begging to be set free...
But I am alone
In this barren wasteland
That is my mind.
I stare out the window
While the people pass me by,
Oblivious to the turmoil inside,
As I die from within.

Wow, I can identify with this piece....you seem to feel and engage life so deeply..and, I can relate to the despair and pain being internalized. No one would even know by looking at you..." as I die from within".... powerful. I thank you for sharing-
