Songbird

I wanna be a songbird

I wanna greet the morning with a happy tune

I want to soar above the clouds that rest in the sky

I want to watch the sun rise and watch the rain fall

 

I wanna be a songbird

I want to fly away to a distant land

A far away place where i can be alone

A place isolated from the rest of the world

Have my sweet song fill the atmosphere

 

I wanna be a songbird

With colorful feathers that shine in the light

I want to sing to the sun as it slowly goes to rest

I want to hum to the moon as it mesmorizes us all

Race the stars as they sparkle like glitter

 

To fly across the sky to another place

To sing to the earth as she wakes

To hum ther a lullaby as she slips into slumber

Would be an awfully big adventure

But i wouldn't mind

I wanna be a songbird

Interesting thing, as I'm reading this a songbird is sitting outside my window singing his own tune. Beautifully written, I enjoyed this piece.
