Heartstrings

Heartstrings

A Poem by Sovereign

The harsh tugging sensation a heart feels

An aching for an unknown desire

A breath, it relentlessly, sharply steals

The yearning a heart feels, an intense fire.

It’s dark, it’s light, the agonizing touch

Like flame, as beautiful as it can be

It hurts, it burns, all in its awful clutch

There’s nothing to be done, the heart is free.

Free to feel agony, but also joy

Untethered, uncaged, played with like a toy.
