By the Water, In the Woods

By the Water, In the Woods

A Poem by Space Enema

I saw a snake down by the water
His color was just red and black
I remember Mama saying
"This one is a friend of Jack"
Stay warm cold blooded brother
Be careful where you tread
There are those with no respect
Those who want you dead

I went hiking in the mountains
To be among the trees
Wood and stone was all I saw
But that was all I'd ever need
You be careful, Sister Forest,
Or the Man will cut you down
He doesn't love you like I love you
But he loves his town

If you can not hear the warning
Then it means you are the threat
You may think you've made a profit
Until you cash in on your debt
