Night

Night

A Poem by Spit_and_Prayers

Night is my hell
Repentance for the day's sins
Reluctant revealing of monsters
Every closet open
Every room dark
All with color bleeds shadow
And none but doubt can stay

Tears wash our bloodied walls
With rags of iron and rusted claws
When the silence is rent by the silence within
Strangled to vision by the backward sun
Emptiness illuminated by that which all fear
Few and far between, celebrate the dead

This is why they sleep
This is what I know
Awake falling in the deep
With one another
Alone

I love this. Very dark and depressing somewhat. I love the line "When the silence is rent by the silence within". That is true poetry. One question though, did you mean in the next to last line "one other" or "one another". I think it sounds better with "one another", but that may not have been the intent there. Either way, damn great poem. Kudos. This is going in my favorites.
