Blade Made of Shadows

I didn't write the first chapter. StoryWars.net is a place where someone writes the first chapter of a story, then other users write drafts for the next chapter. Users then vote on their favorite chapter and that becomes the official next chapter. I made a longer chapter than is usually used on the site but kinda grew attached to what I wrote so I brought it over here. All of this is first draft so expect the usual problems.
