An undeserving title

An undeserving title

A Poem by Thistle

You can never replace what has never been put into place,

You can never erase the darkness that remains on my face.

My heart only beats as deep as you have allowed it to,

How can I miss my father when I have never really known you?

Countless hopes and dreams for you to see me now,

I could cry out my emptiness everyday but I will not allow.

I am no part of you nor do I contain your blood in my veins,

A meaningless name on the page is all of you that remains.

I am blind, I am deaf I am unloved I am lost,

I am everything you have made me be with my trust being the cost.

I meander the streets with a face that doesn’t belong,

I would prefer a long lost love story than the truth that is so wrong.

Take my hand, wrap me in your love, I am a woman now if only you could see,

Love me just for a second, let me have what I have always longed for…my daddy.

What a sad story you have told, Thistle. To feel unloved by your father fates you to feeling unloved and lost I felt your pain deeply and that is a sign of the strength of your poem. Well written and searing, it sings of pain.
