Love Untitled

Love Untitled

A Poem by Delilah Dunn

It wouldn't make sense

To anyone but me

That your eyes are like pondwater pools

In which I would give my whole heart to swim

And the light that glows within them

Is the one that shows my way

When the night is very dark

And all my stars have gone to sleep

I long to whisper these things

To no one but the other half of my soul

You know the truth and I am begging

With a quiet desperation that I, myself

Cannot begin to understand or explain

That you would guard our secret deeply within

For to betray me

Would be to give yourself away

Would it make you smile

If I told you that your fingerprint is in my heart

That the chills that rest upon the base of my spine

And shift suddenly through my chest

Into my lungs and swiftly across the nape of my neck

Are caused by the sweetness of your laughter

And I wish that they were, if only once,

Your feathery, sparkling kisses

Compared to the picture you just painted in my heart, anything i could say to describe this would pale in comparison. I love the way you personify something simple like stars, and the imagery is amazing. Snaps for you!
