My Mask Crush

My Mask Crush

A Poem by
"

A mask. Beautiful, yet terrifying..

"
A mask.
Beautiful, yet terrifying.
Like the moon,
suddenly gone on fire.
Blazing an eternal ice,
of that your eyes
could never get enough of.

It'll haunt you,
yet you can't help but,
fall in Love.
It's like finding a dazzling diamond,
filled with mud.

It's designs are intricate,
Stunningly abstract.
A whole other world,
waiting to be intact.
To be discovered,
beneath the covers of feathers,
and rainbow glitter.

Hypnotizing the eyes,
to see a ravishing mask.
None but a truth,
to a terrible lie.

The Masquerade is over,
and the lies are revealed.
Scribbled out your words,
and threw it the fire.
Please take off the mask, my Love,
the party is over..

Oh, my, wonderful! It was absolutely exquisite. I loved it. Really, dearly, and truly. I love masks, well not the ones people wear to hide away but like masquerade masks. It gives a person a kind of secretive appearance. "Hypnotizing the eyes, to see a ravishing mask." "Please take off the mask, my love, the party is over" Two favorite lines. Goodness! Very wonderful, again, bravo. So beautiful and delectable. Good work! - A.E.S

Good poem. I like the last two lines- I assume you were talking about a metaphorical mask?

A spectacular view of masks. 'It's like finding a dazzling diamond filled with mud.' Very cool lines. Even if the mask is intricate and beautiful, it doesn't show what's behind. :)

I love it.Made me think of New Orleans and the party mask Worn when you know the whole city is in pain.I know it is not how you wrote it but I was just in New Orleans and went to the water and seen the sheen of oil.I listened to the people.Even the people look oily. Not in the physical, they look mentally oily.I could see telling the New Orleans residents to take the party mask off and cry. They deserve it!
