Meu Pai (My Father)

Meu Pai (My Father)

A Poem by Nely Amorim
"

I had to write this, in order to sleep last nite.

"

I Love you Dad, I don't hate you

I Love you Dad, I always do

I just hated the way you hurt my mum

And how you hurt my siblings too

I realise now as age takes you

You didn't know how to be a Dad

You weren't shown that love as a lad

Your mother has a lot to blame

I remember the hurtful things you'd say

A pain I've locked so far away

Your terrible rages and your spite

And all those tears when you'd fight

But I also remember better times

When I was so ill and you were so kind

The child in me, remembers to this day

The fort of toast, hot chocolat on a tray

I'm sad for you, your time is hard

Time to remember, all you've done

Pushing back those memories

Won't assuage your guilt or clear my dreams

I Love You Dad, I Always Will

I Forgive You Now, but you never will...

So special. You are a special person. It is a good thing to lay down those burdens. This is a piece filled with many different emotions, and you are the master of them all. The death of my father prompted many writings...I understand your hurt.

Absolutely heartfelt melanie, everything about this poem, and it has a way of reliving itself, and i agree with dale, for you to share something so hard yet in such a way that you gain understanding is what builds bridges, beautifully done.

Beautiful poem, Stormz. I know it takes a lot to open up to the world on what happened. It's good to get painful memories out into the light and remember the good things. xxxx

An honorable job of a painful tribute to write. Wonderfully done, with obvious love in every keystroke. Great write.
