It's Just Another Blues

It's Just Another Blues

A Poem by Jethro del Cielo
"

Sorrow, love, it's all just another blues to someone. Yeah.. just another blues, alright.

"

We were standing on the shoreline
waiting for a moment to arrive
the first light or at least
another quiet dream of any other kind,

and from behind smokescreens made from long lost love
and burning cigarettes
the joker who spoke slyly of your dreams
were trying steal the night away unseen

but I don't think we ever really minded him all that much

it was just another blues to us back then

it was alright by us if he wanted to play it like that

So there we were, both of us lost
deep inside the miracle we'd made
chasing the first light over the thinnest ice
madly daring everything to break

but we weren't looking down for any lost miracles

no, we were looking up at that pale dawnbreak sky

somehow finding that very miracle anyhow

There were angels flying around, albeit with torn edge of wing

shoes worn from walking, too

still the the night and it's darkness

would soon turn into a dawnbreak blue

sure, it will be pale and fragile,

but it will be there none the less

it won't leave you alone

Perhaps that's why the angels keep trying

I don't know, but I hope they've got a reason like that

broken or not they belong in that pale morning light

even if it might be just me hoping

it just seems things feel empty without them

and I always had that dream of flying around

looking up at that twirl, swirl, swing,

that saturn sky

I guess from another other point of view

we were standing on that shoreline

simply because there were no one else

 there to see things through

to say farewell to Lady Midnight and her loneliness

we wanted her to know we love her too

.. and of blues and broken men
many things can be said,
like of how when you find yourself
listening to music you used to love and still do
only now it's coming through in a melancholic hue
learned them as I learned to hold on
just another innocence lost along the way
just another night to make it through
yeah, just another blues

Yeah, the words and melodies haven't changed

nowadays it's just a little less easy to let things slide by
just to let them pass on by

keep telling me I've to say farewell
that I've already said too much anyhow
I don't think I've done more than try

Still there's time left, it ain't over yet
No, it ain't over yet

No, it ain't over yet,

We still got the music,

even if it's just another blues

.. and a saturn sky returns lilac from blue.
