Michigan sundown June

A Poem by Cory Barrett

Sundown lays pink stretch marks
on its blue belly, and for breathing
the mosquitoes hate me by the mouthful

Masterfully descriptive. I always love short poems like this; most of the time, less is better! Well done.

reminds me of the hot summer nights we just had here in UK. Even had mosquitoes this year.

This has a haiku-like brevity with compact observation. Fine poem.

Thank you Ana!
Nice use of the language. Never heard a sunset described with such crude elegance. I have heard that northern mosquitos are special in their voracity. Ours are more the bludgeoning variety.

ahahahaha ...oh the Great Outdoors eh!? so nice to see you posted my old friend ... going to stop by your pages now to see if i missed something ...
we don't have too many of the skeeters but oh my the chiggers are horrible ..and the itch is nasty and lasts for weeks ... and you can't see them ...and you don't know they have feasted until they have left ... pretty rude if you ask me
