First Bloom

First Bloom

A Poem by Surabhi Kaushik
"

A description of a pink rose as it blooms in the morning. The poet feels the flowers are talking to their petals, quietly

"

First Bloom

Opening slowly with
my eyelids that peel open
at the first touch of dawn

Your velvet pink
silky petals spread out
slowly, prettily, steadily

Welcoming precious rays of golden sunlight
into your fragrant scented rooms
where you speak sweet, nectar words

Listen I will if I could
to your silent chatter
while the mist in the wet breeze

has blown glistening dew drops
on your lush green leaves
I wish I could hear as you speak.

I loved this. Nature always has it's ways of doing things, but yet, in a way, it's always talking. Hushed, it goes about its day, living, blooming, glowing. I loved the vision of the rose blooming, ever so slowly, as if it slowly is speaking and yawning as the morning sun breaks. Great, beautiful work!

You create really beautiful imagery in this poem. I love the phrase 'silent chatter' - for me it perfectly describes how a rose might speak. A beautiful piece!

Women with flower. What you plent at her heart. Methafhopor of your mind. Gentle and silent like morning blossom at golden sunlight of her eyes.

Thanks so much
Opening of a beautiful flower came to my mind as I read this. The effect was profound and I thoroughly visualised the phenomenon; though in reality the sight is too slow to behold. One can use the power of imagination to capture those which the eyes can't.
