A Poem by Melanie Genevieve
"

This is for my friend

"
The petals on this flower haven't quite blossomed yet
The baby teeth have just finished falling from her poetry
her roots grow around blue lines on the pages in her notebook
her stem extends towards the audience
still learning what it means to be graceful

her words flow steady and uneven
still feeling the ground beneath them
with a shy confidence she lifts her head toward the sky
inhaling her dreams like the smell of fresh roses on valentines day
she bows with a delicate sigh

she knows that she could be clipped at any time
but she'll keep growing
with her wide eyed radiance
towards the sun

The metaphor of flower, girl, person, combination is far too exhausted. you bounce from almost good literature to a diary approach of poetry. A bit confusing.

haha yes. I am quite new to all of this.
I like this poetic exploration of the self, and the idea that this young writer is growing toward maturity with her writing. This was my favorite line in the piece: The baby teeth have just finished falling from her poetry. That line is unique and it signals a coming of age with the writer. Keep on reaching Melanie :-)

you have that knack of flowing in and out of reality, combining the 2, no doubt because you see the world so different from most.

The metaphor of a person as a flower is splendid...unique. A poet becomes her poetry....she is born in between those blue lines of the notebook. Her roots are as strong as the vocabulary she employs. This is a strong write....and I enjoyed it. Lydi**

Thank you!! I'm really glad you enjoyed! :)
This is a wonderful poem. The analogy of the flower being a person is delightful. Writing is crisp and clear and full of grace. David

"And the petals will be
so extraordinarily
pale."

i'm sorry i just can't get her poem out of my head asdfghjkl.
the beauty of uncertainty is that since we don't know what's going to happen, there's a possibility of almost everything happening. although that's overwhelming, that implies there are good things to come.

so, if i were her, i wouldn't be so scared of someone's clippers. they could just be pruning.

"her roots grow around blue lines on the pages in her notebook

A very nicely done couple of lines here. I was quite impressed while reading this.

I assume that she wrote a poem and is kind of skeptical about reading it in front of a crowd nof people at first, but eventually she finds her voice, and blooms like the beautiful flower she is. Or at least that's what I got from it. At any rate, it's written extremely well, the poetic element of metaphorical symbolism at display and used extremely well in this one.
