two fish

two fish

A Poem by Melanie Genevieve
"

This poem is a bit angry. I don't think carnival goldfish have ever made me so angry. Lol

"
I have two fish. Two new fish
Two boys gave them up
Two girls took them in

From the carnival they came
And to the toilet they will leave
Anthony and john

One lived in stress and fear
Made such a mess
Reminds me of home
Such a fuzzy distress

Everything is old
Everything must stay
I just want to burn it all
I'm tired of the re-patching walls

We gave the fishes to a sage
We gave the fishes to a mage
She fed them peas and collard greens
But one fish died out anyway

One fish two fish one fish two fish
Sorry red fish blue fish
You're father died stressing
Over the size of his ocean

i find this so metaphorical...we win people over, we trash them, misuse them, throw them away...and then others get them with broken hearts, broken wills...much like this country and its leaders...i guess we are the blue fish and the red fish...our forefathers were the white fish stressing over the size of their ocean.

but now that ocean is too large to control and we are drowning in it...no refuge left.
