The Price of Freedom

The Price of Freedom

A Poem by Mike L. Smyth
"

Why we are free...

"

Bloodshed in vain

Endless morale shattered

Brightened hearts blackened

Eyes turned to dark voids

I look into the hazy distance

Everything lost and nothing gained

A tear trickles from my face

Dropping to the blood stained grass

Not enough to cleanse the plague

Existing only for a blink of an eye

My purpose is no longer known

Abandoned by the Sun

Engulfed by the dark clouds

Trapped in my own insanity

All hope lost instantly

Horrible loss of life

For the price of freedom

bloodshed in vain?
or did you mean the vein in your arm?

i like abandoned by the Sun.
it reminds me of when i started
writing things.

overall tis good.

i also like how you go onto say how tears can fix nothing
since it wasn't enough to clense the plague.

to be truly free?

is to be alone :)
