What Is Love?

Love has always captivated the minds of men,
Yet we have never been able to fully understand it.

Love inspires and directly influences our actions,
Yet we dismiss its obvious power.

Love leaves the most skilled gymnast staggering for balance,
Yet we believe we can stand alone against it.

Love leaves the worlds strongest man withered and weak,
Yet we believe we have conquered it.

Love provides refuge even for the most reckless man,
Yet we fear it.

Love leaves the most learned lyricist silent,
Yet we have thrown the word around as if it was nothing.

Love has threaded itself in my troubled mind,
Yet people still ask me how I know I am in love.

I know I am in love because; My feelings for you have captivated my mind.
I know I am in love because; I always think of how my actions will effect you.
I know I am in love because; My feelings for you leave me staggering for balance when you are around.
I know I am in love because; My feeling for you leave me weak and vulnerable when you are not around.

I know I am in love because; You have helped me in my most desperate of times.

I know I am in love because; When I am around you, I can never find the right words to describe how I feel.

I know I am in love because; You have provided me with the greatest gift I have ever recieved.

Author's Note

This is a poem I wrote for my girl friend. I know its cheesy but I seriously just sat down in a quite room and wrote down whatever came to mind at the time. Then this spawned from it. But reviews will be appreciated.

No it's not cheesy! I'm not sure I've ever been in love, or could ever write about it so eloquently, but the fact that she inspired this write is proof enough for me that it's out there somewhere.
