the calling

the calling

A Poem by T

Lying east of the isle Great Britain

seperated by the sea
land of the great hunger
and death as one to me.

Land of the unknown, Erie
Kilkenny no longer knows
Ulster I come back to haunt you
you know not my comes and goes.

The high king will remember
the province I come to bear arms
Ive not a spell to share lads
but I know of the islands charms.

She haunts me as I wander
I haunt her with my soul
I bring my nightly shadow
and on your home it falls.

I lived a time of druids
I 've lived thru patrick's claims
Palladuis cannot argue
the chronicles were not framed.

The green fields are much dimmer
the cattle, less to see
the forrests much  less deeper
but the woods remember me.

No matter where you go then
remember this my friend
the pull of the island calling
her love will never end.

No question: your poem is packed with power. And the love you feel for your country beats from a heart that carries all you remember about it.

It is refreshing to read the language used in your magnificent poetry. It is almost, if not completely, Edwardian. I love the way you weave in and out of the different provinces and your skill in bringing these places to life is wonderful...nicely versed.
Cheers,
Helen:-)

This speaks to me on many levels. I've been to the Emerald Isle and cherish the roots I have there. Just a lovely write, and the call is loud and clear. Thank you!

This is extremely lovely. I felt the presence of the one who walks. I was drawn to the title as well. . .
