Hope Spilled in the November Sky

Hope Spilled in the November Sky

A Poem by T. F. Rice
"

It is said that Western New Yorkers don't get enough sun...

"

Hope Spilled in the November Sky

Odd shapes of

window-cleaner blue

somehow seep through

November’s stark white sky,

every so often appearing

like a spill spreads and then

It is said that New Yorkers

don’t get enough sun!

A P P E A R S

on the

counter through

thick white fluffy

paper towels.

We have no small flower print

or decorative messages of hope

printed on our paper-towel-white-sky,

no message flapping around behind a small plane,

but those shapes of blue are a mighty-fine complement

for November’s greyness,

and if I look at them just right

in a minute their shape will change

and I may have all the letters I need

to spell the word

H O P E .

this is quite lovely. I loved it straight from the beginning, with "window-cleaner blue" - how cool a description is that?

"We have no small flower print
or decorative messages of hope

:) I love that, and then how you tie it straight through to the end - it worked out beautifully :)

I also like the "if i look at them just right" - i enjoyed the flow of the entire piece :) nicely done.
