It should've been Mr Harvey's motto! Instead of him "extending the johnny boy", using his Hollywood status, a big wig at the wheel.

Very true, Roxane!😊

But I'd like to add, apart from the hard work, good luck is also important. For I've seen many who are hardworking and not much successful, and some who aren't much hardworking but they are successful..(though the latter ones don't work hard as the former ones)

Sometimes, when some somethings can't be earned, they are better demanded.for regret takes one nowhere!

Thankyou for writing and sharing this piece.😊

You're most welcome, Roxane 😊
Good work Roxanne!
Now, look at this. There is a man with a lovely wife and four kids. He is such a sweet neighbor to me too. He is wood cutter. He wakes up 4 a:m to cut wood, use a wheelbarrow to transport woods from bush to asphalt road, even hawk some by wheeling around the street. Comes home by 8p:m. This is every day and is unable to cateer for his lovely family. I was 10years old when i knew him. Now I am 32years, and he is still a wood cutter working HARD. All his four kids, wood cutters too working hard. I too didn't come from a wealthy home. My mum as a petty trader as well as I from tender age. With hard work, perseverance, will, determination, and above all VISION, I am no more petty trader but a Ph.D holder working where i will make my mum proud. What makes the difference? They feel they are great in their own way- capacity. So do I.

Well, from my view, I don't believe HARD work pays more than VISION and PASSION. Or say one should have Hard vision, passion, and will.

Again, what is definition of "Great things"? I am not a encyclopedia of minds, but i can tell my neighbor was happy as well as i was in different levels. Although, our measure of greatness differs, happiness is the determinant factor.

"not given in demand____earn it!"
Makes me wonder how we classify men who lavishes attention on women (monetarily, sexually, etc). How about the novelistic and classical character Eva Pedron in "dont cry for me argentina" who scaled her way through demands? (Perhaps she "earned it" her way through through seduction. Possibly)

The word "earn" and "Demand" used in this simple and beautiful context makes both words bitter rivals. But they are not. They work hand in hand.

It depends on who wheels the power of both words.

As beautiful as this piece is, it will make some readers depressed that they are not working hard enough in this cruel world. It gives a feel that God may not answer some unmerited demands without hardwork accrued with it.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says "8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. " This scripture may be talking about faith and grace, but it applies to desires and accomplishment. Hardwork is a virtue. But it is not the wheel that can drive us through.

With love,
