Live for today

Live for today

A Poem by Tabby Mac
"

I'm gonna do it!

"
I closed a door today.
Maybe you can relate?
When life gets you dismayed,
You try to smile
But, the weights too much.
I'm not talking guilt and such...
Just circumstances
Maybe even lost chances.
Enough to make you look down
Make you want to leave town.
Yeah that was me...
Sad as sad could be.
Dreaming of running away,
Taking a mental vacation day.
Heck, I'd take a whole week
But, I know I'd still be left incomplete.
So...I closed the door today.
I have to find a new way.
Looking back just causes self pity.
Looking ahead makes my head all spinny.
I'm walking away to live by each moment.
No, I don't know what to do! But, I'm going to own it!
Second by second, minute by minute
Hour by hour.
I'm not going to cower!
I'm going to be brave!!
I'm going to live for today.

Sometimes when we lose the only thing/person who was a reason behind our happiness...It hurts, and hurts us very badly.

And it is then, that no matter how many close friends, siblings etc we have who used to perceive us always fail to, and all they can do is 'consoling' us for what is gone, and may never come back, no matter how hard we try!
Maybe because they've no been there the way we have, they are helpless.

It is in times like those, we gotta be our own here! Cry, and sob incessantly behind those closed doors till we're done shedding those tears of intense pain...Half smile, fir the good that happened, get up, make ourselves remember it's just temporary and we've to move on instead of looking backwards...Life's to be lived forward, not backward.what is gone, is gone, and from now it's just a lesson to be remembered for the rest of life..we're brave, brave enough to let go and learn but not a coward to lament and think of redoing what tortured us to pieces!
And to move on...We gotta close the door we've already tread on, it maybe hard, but it will be better for sure, since it will be tread by a new, but a wider person now😊 and this thing is sometimes really important!!

You've captured this feeling of 'letting go' Ver well in this piece😊 well done! Tabby😊

I have made MANY attempts at outlining my need to distance myself from flung-open doors of pain, in poetic form... Never have I nailed it with such grace and relatability... Congruent thoughts and crystal-clear presentation of rhyme and reason... Stellarly penned...

Now that sounds charming. :) What else does one have?
A relatable piece with an optimistic message. This made me imagine someone depressed and trapped in their room before finally running outside to see the sun. There was a smooth transition from a hopeless mood to a hopeful one. The overall message is a good motivator and life lesson; reminds me of a quote by Lao Tzu:

"If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present."

Nice work.

This is one of those piece(s) which you need to just get on stage and present it to the audience and let the words be heard...that's the atmosphere this writes gives the reader...the monotone of you on stage and just expressing the need to be heard out loud and center for a moment...this captures that in the write...

The world is a stage...and Writerscafe is a vantage point...great day...
We all get overloaded and need some down time, Tabby. But we usually don't think about ourselves with all the other demands upon us. Taking one day at a time, a one foot in front of the other attitude is truly the best TLC you can give yourself...that, and a pint of chunky monkey does it for me! ; )

I love the spike in optimism because without it all we're left with are dark clouds and average thoughts. Enjoy the day. Tomorrow might be late. This is well written. Nice work:)

Live for the moment is the best advice anyone can give. I applaud you 'closing the door' on all the baggage and dead weight. Love the flow, rhyme and sass of this poem. Kudos to you and your anthem!

is advisory and realistic.
For the errors of yesterday can not be waxed away by a smile, escape or regret.
Thinking about it only makes you worthless. Surviving it, makes you strong. And this calls for living today as seen in the caption.
So much of reality.
Thanks dear.
